Kumpulan Design started as an architectural firm on a modest scale on 4 July 1977 in Sibu, Sarawak. Together with new partners, the founder of Kumpulan Design later established KDI in October 1989.

Having established a foothold locally, KDI was encouraged by the success in competitions and with the intention to expand our wealth of expertise, resulted in an office being setup in the national capital, Kuala Lumpur in the year 1989.

KDI was corporatized under the name of Arkitek KDI Sdn Bhd (AKDI) on 27 February 1993. Currently, AKDI has established offices in Kuching, Sibu, Kuala Lumpur, and Johor Bahru, with staff strength comprises of over seventy-six (76) people.

AKDI is active both within and outside Malaysia with projects in 10 countries. To date, we are privileged to have participated in wide aspects of professional practice. While experience is a most valuable asset, our commitment“to get job done and done right”has enabled AKDI to take on and complete projects consistently. AKDI won many competitions and awards over the years, notably the BCI Asia Top 10 Architects for the years of 2014 - 2017 and 2019.

AKDI can operate either as Architectural Consultant or "One-Stop Consultant". Under this "One-Stop" concept, we offer full spectrum of services including Project Management, Architecture Design, Interior Design, Urban Design, Planning & Graphic Design.

AKDI spares no expense to ensure that standards be it design or service are never compromised. We adhere to the staunch belief that the success of AKDI remains in the successful implementation of each and every project.
