WAD 2017 – CARDBOARD CITY CHALLENGE > LIFESPAN CITY

WHAT IS THIS ABOUT?

To celebrate World Architecture Day this year, we intend to bring awareness to the community about energy consumption through urbanization which results in climate change.

How architecture going to respond to this while enriching communities? By initiating, learning, teaching and shaping of young children who will determine the future of their life & city. AS such, we propose to construct a kids’ cardboard city installation to encourage learning through creative play; through which the children learn to

  • Inspire & Re-imagining  Think & design
  • Make & build
  • Play & share

It is going to be a big scale toy event which hopes to inspire young minds through spatial experience. Made using recycled cardboard, they will learn about the recycling process even as they dispose of their ‘creations’ at the end of the event.

This CPD will examine the roles and responsibilities of the Architect under the Housing Development Act (Act 118 Peninsular Malaysia 2007) and the Sarawak Housing Ordinance (1993) and related regulations. It will cover an overview of the two sets of laws in force in West Malaysia and Sarawak and point out the major differences. A brief outline of the certification process under the housing acts and ordinances and the management of quality in relation to this certification is reviewed. Managing common defects and complaint is also considered.
