We are pleased to announce that we are organising a visit to the historical Malay Kampung and a follow up site visit to Fort Alice during this coming school holidays with details as stated below:

 

Venue                          : Fort Alice and Kampung Hulu;

Date                             : 18th – 19th November 2013;

Time                            : Day 1(1.45 – 5.00 pm); Day 2(8.30 – noon).

No. of Participants       : 30 maximum. Priority is given to participants of previous workshops;

 

Programme                  :

1.   18th November 2013 (Monday Afternoon);

-        Gathering/ registration point at Chinese Temple along Waterfront – 1.45pm;

-         Proceed to Kampung Hulu on foot (guided by teachers/facilitators);

-         Visit traditional Malay houses (conducted by host and Mike Boon);

-         Visit Surau (conducted by host);

-         Visit traditional graves site (conducted by host);

-         Tea break with traditional Malay food (prepared by host);

-         Programme ends at 5.00pm;

-         Visitors can witness the tidal bore at Taman Panorama Benak – around 5.30pm.

 

2.     19th November 2013 (Tuesday Morning);

-        Registration/ briefing at Taman Panorama Benak’s public car park – 8.30am;

-         Food Trail guided by previous participants for visiting workshop participants;

-         Regroup at Taman Panorama Benak – 9.45am;

-         Fort Alice conservation site visit (conducted by Mike Boon) – 10.00am to noon.

 

Notes:

a)     Previous participants are required to wear their limited-edition project T-shirt on 18th November 2013;

b)    For safety reasons, participants are advised to wear close-toed shoes with thick soles, long trousers, bring along hats, umbrella and water bottles of their own. Safety helmets will be provided during site visit.

c)     The Site is covered by Public Liability Insurance under the project. However the participants shall enter at their own risk.

d)    The organisers shall not be held liable for any accidents during the course of the programme.

This CPD will examine the roles and responsibilities of the Architect under the Housing Development Act (Act 118 Peninsular Malaysia 2007) and the Sarawak Housing Ordinance (1993) and related regulations. It will cover an overview of the two sets of laws in force in West Malaysia and Sarawak and point out the major differences. A brief outline of the certification process under the housing acts and ordinances and the management of quality in relation to this certification is reviewed. Managing common defects and complaint is also considered.
