SYNOPSIS

All the way from below ground to above ground, waterproofing creative designs for protecting striking structure. A push to be more competitive in every aspect of building design and construction. These simultaneous trends in the building industry can be difficult to juggle. This presentation shall discuss about the role of waterproofing, the technology and innovation that contributes to address these trends and assist architects and building component designers find the solution. Attendees will gain a better understanding the following:

  • The appropriate application of waterproofing both internally and externally on structure to achieve sustainability.
  • The reason(s) for waterproofing failures.

Bhaven Kothari

Mr. Bhaven Kothari (Regional Product Segment Manager – Waterproofing & Sealant)

Bhaven Kothari holds a Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering & higher education in Management, he has over 15 years of professional experience in Construction & Construction Chemical, Waterproofing Industry. He is working at the role of “Regional Product Segment Manager – Waterproofing & Sealant” for South East Asian Region at Fosroc Asian Sdn Bhd, Shah Alam, Selangor. He has had professional experience of working in several countries in Asia, Middle East, Australia region before coming to Malaysia in 2015.

This CPD will examine the roles and responsibilities of the Architect under the Housing Development Act (Act 118 Peninsular Malaysia 2007) and the Sarawak Housing Ordinance (1993) and related regulations. It will cover an overview of the two sets of laws in force in West Malaysia and Sarawak and point out the major differences. A brief outline of the certification process under the housing acts and ordinances and the management of quality in relation to this certification is reviewed. Managing common defects and complaint is also considered.
