Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia Sarawak Chapter (PAMSC) is the local chapter of PAM, representing Architects practicing or working in Sarawak. The parent body – Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) was originally established in 1920 as the Institute of Architects Malaya (IAM). The Institute was registered under its present form and Constitution on 20 January 1967.

PAMSC was registered in 1976 with the aim to provide a platform to further the interests of all Architects in Sarawak. Today, PAMSC has a membership of 147 Corporate and 117 Graduate Members. There are currently 67 Architectural Firms throughout Sarawak.

This CPD will examine the roles and responsibilities of the Architect under the Housing Development Act (Act 118 Peninsular Malaysia 2007) and the Sarawak Housing Ordinance (1993) and related regulations. It will cover an overview of the two sets of laws in force in West Malaysia and Sarawak and point out the major differences. A brief outline of the certification process under the housing acts and ordinances and the management of quality in relation to this certification is reviewed. Managing common defects and complaint is also considered.
